FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Public Golf Courses in Longmont Cause Stir With Discount Golf Tee Times

As algorithmic dynamic pricing debuts with the City of Longmont public golf courses, some patrons see golf discounts and others see more dollar signs.

After months of deliberation, the City of Longmont's three public golf courses—Sunset, Twin Peaks, and Ute Creek—finally inked a deal with industry powerhouse Golf Now to implement dynamic tee time prices on the  www.golflongmont.com website and through the Golf Now portalThough municipal course pricing is already competitive for the Denver metro area, course staff agreed that moving to dynamic online tee time prices will be a win-win, making sure the Pros can fill up their tee sheets every day while rewarding the more flexible patrons with a golf discount.

So, what the heck is dynamic pricing? Sam Linnenburger, the Golf Pro who manages the Robert Trent Jones II designed Ute Creek Golf Course in northeast Longmont describes it like this: "Believe it or not, it's probably something you're familiar with if you've ever shopped at Amazon or purchased a plane ticket online: it's a price based on real time supply and demand. Though it's relatively new to the golf industry, it allows the public golf courses to charge a few dollars more for high-demand times, such as a gorgeous June Sunday morning at 9am, but then charge a few dollars less for that hot July Wednesday sunset tee time at 6pm." Tee time pricewill be determined by a combination of factors including day of the week, time of the day, time of the year, and weather conditions.

There is a catch to the discount golf tee times, though: you must book your tee time online at www.golflongmont.com. As always, you can still call or show up, but you'll be paying a fixed 'rack rate. The new dynamic tee time prices will be available online only beginning in the Spring of 2017. Are you on board with dynamic pricing?
Absolutely! Now I can get the golf discounts I deserve!
Maybe... I guess I'll have to wait and see how much I save.
Nah. I play in high demand times so the discounts won't effect me.
